The world is in dire need of help, so it is definitely a good thing that a lot of companies are taking the initiative to preserve the environment. One of them is Hewlett-Packard. One of the giants when it comes to printing and desktop solutions for personal and business use, they have taken eco-friendly steps not just for marketing but also for their social responsibility.

Energy-efficient Desktop PCs.

Why do they have to convert their PCs to be more energy-efficient? In case you do not know, they can be potentially harmful to the environment because of their emissions and increase air pollution. HP decided to redesign at least three of their desktop PCs, so they will be able to reach the energy standards of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In effect, if you are going to buy dc5700, dc5750, and dc7700, you will be able to reduce your electrical costs to as much as $58 each year for every machine.

For example, dc5700 and dc700 both contain an Intel Core Duo processor. They also have huge hard drive and memory. Moreover, they make use of Windows XP Pro and possess a DVD/CD-RW drive. On the other hand, dc5750, which costs a little over $600, contains an Athlon processor and a 512MB memory. Its hard drive is at 80GB. It also runs in Windows XP Pro and DVD/CD-RW drive.

Greener Batteries.

Going green for HP does not only stop with the modification of the desktop PCs. The batteries, called Sonata, can be charged 50 percent a lot faster than ordinary ones. You can also maximize the use of the batteries at least 1,000 times.

Recycling Water Bottles.

Do you know that some of the ink cartridges that you could be using actually come from water bottles? Every year, the number of these recycled cartridges increases. In 2008 alone, HP has converted over 5 million plastics into cartridges.

Earn while Growing Green.

HP is also encouraging its consumers to practice environment-friendly steps. They are willing to pay anyone who is going to turn over old HP products, such as cameras, laptops, monitors, cameras, smart phones, printers, workstations, table PCs, and a lot more. The process is very basic. You can go to their recycle page of HP.

You are then going to select the item that you like to recycle. It does not matter if it is not HP. You will then have to enter the model number, as well as the condition of your product. You can then generate the quote for your returned item. You can definitely protect the earth by choosing the companies that you are patronizing.
